My Crotch Smells Like Fish

So yesterday morning starts out like a very bad morning. I have a fever, feel like crap, and have to get up early to help a friend move. I take a shower, throw on clothes, put my vitamins in my pocket, and haul my suitcase out the door (it’s a two-day move). At some point, I’m in the passenger seat, feeling and acting grumpy, when I look down and see a wet spot near my left pocket. Oh No. My Fish Oil Capsule. With EPA or DHA or Omega 6 or whatever it is. Exploded.

I manage to take my iPhone, remaining vitamins, and one now-empty fish oil capsule out of my pocket, and I realize I smell like the little mackerel that gave their lives so I could buy fish oil capsules and explode them in the pocket of my favorite jeans.

My only other pants I have with me for the trip are the outdoorsy-kind you zipper on and off the legs to turn them into shorts, and they smell (reek) of smoke, in a misguided but valiant effort to keep mosquitoes at bay. Figuring I’ll smell funny either way, I just keep my jeans on. Eventually, the dark oil spot fades into the background color of my jeans, but not the smell. For two days I keep catching a wiff of the little mackerel.

We finally arrived, and I’ll be washing them in a few hours, which is a shame, because I think the humor value of trying to explain this to someone who gets in an amorous position with me would be priceless.

Update: After washing and drying my jeans twice, it now smells like cooked salmon coming out of the oven, instead of raw fish. The intensity of the smell has also lessened, and I’m sure the smell will disappear any month now.

You need something with a degreaser to get the oil out efficiently. I recommend using a small bit of dawn dish detergent (using a tooth brush) and scrubbing your crotch.
You can do this with your pants on or off…but, something tells me you’ll leave ‘em on.
